Our store of costumes, dresses, blouses, aprons and accessories has now become correspondingly large. So after five years, it was high time to present the whole thing professionally again.
For the presentation we converted the ground floor of our offices at the Alter Bahnhof (The Old Railway Station) into a photo studio for a day on 6 July 2017. Our photographer Yvonne Ploenes erected the set in the Old Waiting Room, two make-up artists turned the secretaries' office into a cosmetic studio and our wardrobe mistress Marta set up rows of clothes stands in the conference room.
Everything was ready for our models' grand performance. Ten girls and three guys from our host and hostesses' files were really very excited about the job after the practice photo shooting and fitting the day before. We had two hundred and fifty takes on our "set list". Then things got started: changing clothes, primping, putting on make-up and powder, posing and the final photo shooting. Everything was closely supervised by management assistant Maria Perez who had planned the day's events like a military operation together with Silke Melles and who had full control of everything.
That the decision to work with "real" hostesses and hosts instead of professional models was dead right became quickly apparent because the Melles & Stein spark leaped into the photographs immediately. There has rarely been an occasion where everyone involved has had so much fun in their work. And eight hours later, all takes were "wrapped up" and we were able to take our final photo.
