It's done! Our first sustainability report in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK) is complete.
When we decided to put sustainability at the heart of melles & stein, it quickly became clear to us that we first needed to take stock. We wanted to know exactly where we stood as a company in terms of sustainability—and where we, as a relatively small company, could have the greatest impact.
We decided to produce a sustainability report in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK) because it covers the current reporting standards and presents our efforts in a way that is transparent and comprehensible to everyone.
Yes, it was quite a laborious task at first. Collecting data was particularly time-consuming. At the same time, the whole process was extremely valuable and insightful for us. On the one hand, it was nice to see that we are already doing a lot of things really well in many areas. On the other hand, working on the report has given us a very clear idea of where we need to start in order to do our part for a sustainable trade fair industry. We have revamped our entire product range. Our consumables are now completely sustainable, and we have switched to organic and fair trade for many products. We are also tackling the issue of food waste with creative concepts.

And now? The next report is due in 2026. And the work continues, because even the best report is useless if the measures it contains are not implemented.
